Calla sat lazily behind the aggressive youth. Well, perhaps he was a youth. The brute's rashness seemed to indicate such. Her brown/black front legs were criss-crossed in an un-caring fashion, and her smiling face was tilted slightly to the left out of amusement. She wondered why he was here.

If he seeked a place in her pack, the borders were miles back, and he would have known to howl there. This act of intrusion clearly showed he had no respect for whatever authority was here. A pack member listens to their alphena; that's why they are accepted into clans. He couldn't possibly be looking for a home.

Was he a spy for another group? No, not a spy, he was too loud. A messenger, perhaps? This would surprise Calla, as she had been a solo guardian for a long time now, as was her father before her, his father before him, on and on. It was the same for the rest of the alphas in the scared vale. No one who really knew what was going on would want to be here.

But there was that message whispered among the trees of a howl in the water alphena's land. That was the nice thing about living in a circle formation. News traveled fast. Could such a rumor be true? Calla knew Yayta was upset with her, not that she remembered why, but would the white fae really be angry enough to send a newly formed pack-member over with some sort of a message? A challenge, perhaps?

The brown femme's smile turned into a sneer and her lengthy plume flicked twice. Yes, she would accept such a challenge.

"Excuse me," the Earth Guardian spoke boldly and loudly, and rightfully so.
"What brings you upon my earth, trespasser?" Calla spat the last word out, emphasizing it. She remained lying down, as still as she had been this entire time, and waited for the male to turn around.

Uran whirled around. He was slightly embarrassed at having been caught off guard. He opened his mouth to speak, but quickly shut it again when he realized that the alpha was an alphess, though he could have left it hanging open for the shock he had received.

Where he came from, males were the ones running the show. Not that a she-wolf couldn't do the job, but it had never happened before. The brownish brute changed his stance and found his voice.

"Your earth? Well, excuse me. I didn't realize one was qualified for ownership of such a precious thing."

He said 'one' as if it could apply to anyone, but Uran had made it clear that it was directed right at her.

"And how, one might wonder, someone would come across ownership of such a possession?"

As he spoke, the mud-colored brujo lifted his eyebrows questioningly, as well as a corner of his left lip, showing a brief flash of silver teeth. Though his body language didn't show it, Uran was far from ready for combat. He was actually wondering how he might be able to get around fighting a girl.

Even though she wasn't taking care of "her" earth, and that should be enough to fight for, part of the he-wolf forbade him from attacking someone of his opposite sex. If he could just keep her talking, maybe he could find another way.

The smile on the dark-hued fatale's face widened. She was satisfied at having surprised the intruder. Her glory was short lived though, when the male began to question her ownership of the Earth Terra.

"Actually, this land was given to me and my kin by a Goddess. The Alphess hand-chose us to guard the secrets of the earth," Calla said with a holier-then-thou sort of air, though really she was slightly shaken.

She was still trying to figure out why he was here. So far all he had done was be annoying, though truly Calla was glad for any company at all. Not that she would admit it to anyone; not even herself. So the black and brown fae sat bitterly and pondered. She thought about asking him straight out what he thought he was doing in her area, but she figured he would come to it soon enough. Instead she asked,

"Who boldly inquires such knowledge?" and decided she would be satisfied with either the brujo's own name or of his sender / master's.

"I am Uran, and I come because the earth sends me," Uran replied flatly, giving her both her answers.
"Not mine, not yours. Her in Herself."

He snorted. As time passed, he began to feel his anger and intolerance increase. Who did this female think she was? Maybe her ancestor had been chosen by a god, but she was merely offspring. It seemed odd to him that someone who had been bestowed such an honor would refuse to care for the land.

Uran wasn't quite sure what was wrong with it. It just seemed...out of balance. The wind didn't blow as sweetly here, and the water seemed reluctant to have to pass through such terra. The elements, they were at improper ratios. The bitter air that shrouded the alphena seemed to infect her land, and that wasn't right. She should be doing it's will; not vice versa. Wasn't that usually how worshipers served their gods? That wouldn't do if she planned to hide behind her divine excuse for much longer.

"Why do you mistreat your gift so?" the brute asked while taking a step closer.

"Have you some grudge upon nature? And if so, then step down and be done with her! Let someone else serve Her Highness!"

If she was in that mindset, Uran knew that she would pick up on his hint that he wished to govern. But he had no idea what was going on in the dark colored fae's head.

Emerald pools doubled width in surprise. Calla had been thinking the intruder Uran had come with some sort of challenge, but not something of this magnitude. Her shock turned to anger and a scarlet color crept across her face, though the rageful hue couldn't be seen beneath the darkness of her face.

The rage itself was plain enough however. Calla jumped to her feet, pelt standing on end.

"I don't think you realize what you ask of me, trespasser," the fae growled menacingly, unashamédly showing her her yellowed but still razor sharp fangs. She began to circle the new comer, keeping her head low and alert. Her muscles were loose but ready to spring at any moment, and they twisted clearly visible like snakes under her coat.

"Her Highness"? What was that garbage? Uran was an outsider; what did he know of her curse, which he so mockingly called a gift? What could he possibly know of the burden of finding peace, of trying to keep balance and become reunited with his goddess and lover?

"Do you even have any idea what's going on?" she asked him bluntly and bitterly, almost hissing the words.

After watching the she-brute, Uran too, began to pace in a circle, directly across from her.

"Idea what's going on? Hmm, no, I don't. But let me guess."

"Once upon a time your god gave your great-great-great grandfather a piece of land. She probably chose him for his love of the earth; the same love you claim but true. And over generations, his blood has been thinning and thinning as the years pass by. Until you came along."

"And now you're sitting there, acting like you're special or something. Do you even love the earth? Do you have any idea how much I do?!" Uran was fiercely snarling by now. Small amounts of spittle was coming from his open jaws. His ebony and mud canvas was standing on end, and with lips drawn up and all razors exposed, he looked terrifying.

"Tell me, dear chosen-one, how close am I to being right?"

Barking laughter, Calla's angry face tightened.
"And what if you are right, huh? Let's suppose I'm not completely obsessed with Mother Earth, as you so clearly and vividly seem to be. If I'm not as qualified for the rank as you are. What of it?"

The soot and soil splashed alphena's voice began to waver.

"Don't you think I'm trying my best? Don't you think I realize that while I'm not as strong as my ancestor, I still carry his consequences around upon my back? Huh?"

Green eyes wild, she continued to circle. Calla's tail swept back and forth feverishly, a charcoal pendulum.

"Let me tell you a story, Uran. . . "
And the female rattled off the whole tale of The Alphess leaving and the struggle for peace. Now the femme stopped pacing, and stood before the male intruder, wondering what he would do with the knowledge.

((OoC: S'alright, love. I got your PMs, and everything's cool. Though I do hope when everything works out you'll be able to come on more often. Poor Calla misses you oh so much ;) ))

As Calla told her story, Uran couldn't help but feel pity for the femme. She was trying her best, it seemed. But it still wasn't good enough. The brujo knew in his heart that the alphena's current role could never bring the peace she so longingly pined for.

So the brute tried a different approach.
"I understand your hurt," he said, brown eyes soft.

"But you don't have to do this. I'm willing to take your burden from you, because I can see how bitter it's making you. Look at yourself; this is what your prophecy has shaped you into, not who you really are. You're young enough, go beyond the circle. If it's as you say and your alphess dwells here no longer, what compels you to stay?"

"Besides, if she isn't here..." he turned his dial yonder.
"She's got to be somewhere out there."

Uran let his words sink in a long time. A few of them were so embedded he mused they had begun to sprout. Finally, he pleadingly told her,
"Go."

She was crying now.

Tears poured from her olive pools, as if they had sprung some sort of leak and now could not be stopped. Calla's heart was broken, because the outsider who had come from no where had known her deepest, most hidden fears. He knew that the femmora was aware she didn't fit in. Uran could tell that though she had drunk of the magic pond and could call upon her elemental gift, it held no magic or awe for her. Calla was nothing but a stand-in, and both her and the other saw.

She the alphena wept, her orbs began to burn a brilliant yellow hue. The female wasn't even aware of it. But the greater her sadness, the greater they burned. At the black dipped feet of the female, a small sprout appeared. It fed off her tears, took nourishment from her sorrow, and began to rise and fatten, twisting into some kind of plant.

The plant was a tree, and it was growing at an alarming rate. Other than that it seemed like a normal sapling, and also if one happened to ignore the fact that the leaves were tear-shaped, as some trees have, but backwards. Rather than the fat end being attached to the stem and then tapering as it reached farther away from its life-source, these leaves began with the thin stem and increased so that the rounded end was a much larger thing than it's beginning.

As soon as the female realized this bizarre occurrence, she fled the scene and never planned on returning. The fae ran and ran and ran, nearly flying over the territory she knew so well. The depression-born plant continued to twist until Calla's mitts were no longer touching the ground of The Alphess's holy circle. It looked to be about six years of age; one year for the time spent in her mother's womb plus five more for Calla living on her own, all the while being crushed under the weight of her world. But all that was over now. As the gent had offered, it was now Uran's chance at leading the Earth Pack to peace.

(( OoC: Haha, I have no idea where that came from. You got off lucky, kid. Do whatever you feel like now, but please don't post at The Pond just yet, as we haven't quite decided on a plot right yet. I'm sure you'll be alright though, and congrats. Don't let me down now ;) )
